Quickie

Blimey! What the feck was that?
Last night I was struck down by some mysterious stomach bug that had me shivering and gripping the sides of the lav at 4 in the morning. After getting a couple of hours sleep I was woken by some heavy duty indigestion that had me calling a sickie and clearing a path to the lav. Junior joined me in the sick ward after pulling a sickie on his kindergarten (he'd done the vomiting bit a couple of days earlier, so he gets the blame), so at least I had some company. But less than 24 hours later, it's all over. Not a shiver in sight, not a regurgitated carrot to be seen.
Just thought you should know...

UPDATE: Uh-oh, now Juniorette's turn. Watch out mrs. anglosaxy, you're next...

Feckin' hate it when...

...they do that.

Those feckin' drivers who force their way in to your lane, no indicators flashing, no cheery look to check if he/she can move in front of you. People always ask me "What are you doing in this country??" and, I admit, after incidents like this, which happen every single feckin' day on the drive in to Open Spacey, I ask myself the same. There's just no class, no respect, it's all about making sure you can get in front of someone else...at whatever cost. And we're not just talking about driving, unfortunately. I waited for half an hour this morning as car after car forced their way into my lane. One blond tart really wound me up (thank her for this post!) when she almost hit my car as she forced her way in. A few seconds later she moved out of my lane, drove up another 200 metres and then forced her way back in. Fucking unbelievable.

And yalla yalla as they say over here, get your thinking hats on for the What the Hell...see below.

Sounds of fatherhood iii

junior and juniorette are playing together in their room.

^thump^

juniorette starts to bawl as her head reacquaints itself with the floor.

as: walks in with an angry look on his face "What happened?"

junior: "I hit juniorette"

as: "You hit juniorette?"

junior: "Yes, like this... *t-h-w-a-c-k as he hits her again* "...

She said "You might feel a little bit of a prick"...

After a recent bout of flu which completely fecked my sinuses, I decided to accept the offer of a freebie acupuncture session from a friend. First time I've ever tried it. Nothing like a few pricks in your nose...ohhh, I can feel a nun and vicar joke coming on...

Did it help? For about 5 minutes...
Is my forehead really that big? Well, I didn't Photoshop...

Skinny Jeans Teach

OK, got a new teacher in, she's actually very cute, very enthusiastic. Should I hold the fact that she wears skinny jeans against her? She wears them mightily well, I might add...

Confession...

...there I was listening to the radio when up popped this, er, classic. Not sure if I should mention this, but I knew every single word, even the bit where our Martin gets all serious and pouty.

I used to feckin' love this band! If I'm not mistaken, their Lexicon of Love was my very first cassette that was all mine mine mine, tempting me into the world of casualdom, Sta Press and DMs but not quite pushing me into the world of gold lame jackets...

The tribe gets even bigger...

Congrats to the T and the N, who have a new baby boy, a new cousin for junior and juniorette to jump on..."bunnnnnndle!"

Volunteer to party

Interesting article/clip on the resurgence of kibbutz volunteers in Israel. Takes me back a few years, because this was the main reason I came to Israel, to volunteer on a kibbutz. Never did make it, of course, after being tempted by Tel Aviv and the local eye candy. It'd be interesting to know what the yoof of today think of the kibbutz and its socialist ideals, or is it just for the sun and fun (like wot I came for innit)?

Corridors and Roundabouts

Just a little update on Corridor Land, for those of you who miss those dark, dank days...they are now restructured and reorganized and are now no longer known as Corridor Land, but as an official arm of the American mothership that purchased them. But you'll be pleased to know that with all the restucturing, they've managed to offload a number of employees and still not pay pitzuim (layoff compensation). Once a classy act, always a classy act. Fuckers.

Last week I actually received a cheque from them for loyalty over the years. OK, I'm joking about the loyalty part, but I did get a cheque from them as the stock options that were mine have been realized, or something similar, and were actually worth money. Of course, this is Corridor Land options we're talking about, so don't get excited...really. I'd invite you all (all 3 of you) for a beer, but I'm not sure it'd stretch that far...

And as my old vodka-toting Ruskie corridor partner O is just about to start her new job, we shall just wish her a pleasant, if rather squeaky "Uh-oh". Mmm, where could she possibly be working?

Spoilt rotten

Something that disturbs the proletarian in me is the way that pampering is taken for granted in hi-tech. OK, the social / monetary benefits are undoubtedly what are keeping me in the industry right at this moment, but whenever I step into the kitchen at Open Spacey I'm always hit by a huge pile of washing up left for the cleaner. Not sure why it pisses me off so much, but it does. Some old Russian immigrant comes in later and spends a good 20 minutes washing up. OK, he's getting paid for it, of course, but it just feels wrong. It's not like there's 200 people at Open Spacey - we barely make it into double figures some days - so I can't see why people don't just rinse out their cup/plate/whatever. Surely it ain't that hard?

As for the fuss that kicks up when a certain brand of cookies isn't available...let's just not go there.

Earth moving

Mrs. anglosaxy told me she felt the earth move. She was in bed at the time. Unfortunately, I wasn't.

That's my boy!

The rain's a-coming

Yep, tis the rainy season again. And this weekend's (mainly tomorrow's) expected deluge is just about to hit. The missus is well happy, she just lurves winter in Israel. Or maybe not. More like detests it with all her heart. Why is it that all Israelis absolutely hate winter? Give me an Israeli who likes the winter and I'll give you a million who hate it...in theory that makes it just 6 and a bit Israelis who like winter, probably about right.

* Another phone shot. If you look very carefully, you can even see my neighbourhood in the distance. Just don't let the filth know I was driving at the time...

Open Spacey

Taken with the new mobile phone from my seat at Open Spacey. Exciting stuff, eh?

Citeh!

Gotta love The Citeh! Did I ever tell you that they're my favourite "second team"? He he.
I admit, I wasn't optimistic at the start of the season, but with 12 games to go (actually 13 for the Gooners), things are looking quite reasonable. At least we're in for an exciting end to the season. And now, of course, I've just cursed the rest of the season into a boring one-horse race...

February's Homo Sapiette - Vika

Well, I had somebody else lined up to open this season's bevy of beauties, but after she was dumped last week from The Survivor (Israel's hottest TV show at the moment), I thought I'd better start with Vika Finkelstein, moments before she disappears into anonymity, or hits the big time, not quite sure which...

I have to admit, The Survivor has sucked me in for a few episodes, and Vika's prancing around in a skimpy bikini certainly didn't have me reaching for the remote too often. A Tel Aviv lass, Vika was practically unknown before the show, apart from some minor modelling jobs. She's bound to have her 15 minutes of fame over the next weeks, but does she have something extra to take her beyond that? Time will tell...though sticking her tongue out at selected events and building beach huts could prove money-spinning...

Killer Meusli

There I was, trying to be a healthy b'stard, pouring myself a bowl of meusli each of the past two mornings. Little did I know that I was opening myself to attack from meusli that had evil designs on my bowels...it even hoodwinked me into thinking that I had eaten some manky cookies, but now I know the truth. 'Tis the meusli. Just count your lucky stars you're not downwind from this post...

One step beyond

Juniorette took her first unaided steps last week, pretty well bang on schedule with her brother, who also started walking at 14 months. But I wasn't there to see it, which kind of broke my heart, at least for a few minutes, while mrs anglosaxy told me all about it when I got home.

Which has kind of made me realise (with expert analysis from an exhausted mrs anglosaxy) that I can't keep coming home at 10pm because I'm not going to see my kids grow up. And I'll probably lose the wife along the way, and possibly have a meltdown...so I'm trying to reduce my hours as much as possible, and get some decent teachers in. I have one, but I have this feeling he's starting to take the piss just a little bit, so if I can find two decent teachers to ease my load, especially in the late evenings, I will be happy.

Friday morning opening (the equivalent of Saturday morning, of course, in the big wide world) is also beckoning, because I just don't have any spare hours to fit students in, but that is holy ground...now juniorette has joined junior's kindergarden, from this week we'll have Friday mornings free for the first time in nearly 3 years. I'm almost (*almost*) ready to sit in a cafe all Friday morning until we have to pick the kids up, we've just got to find the right place (good music, nice view, hot waitresses, hot waiters (for 'er indoors), alcohol, not too poncey, etc etc, all critical factors)...

This post is dedicated to mrs anglosaxy, who has reached the ripe old age of 23 today. At least that's the age she's giving everybody and by God is she sticking to it.

New toy

This is my new phone. I won't tell you about how Orange screwed me around and for two days left me without a phone, just when I needed it most...I'll just tell you that this phone is decently snazzy, though the camera is a tad disappointing. The gadget conscious quite like this phone and it's getting some admiring glances, but I'm still unconvinced about having video chats via a 5cmx3cm (approx) screen. Mrs anglosaxy got herself the sexy black and orange version, so we can pout at each other whenever we need. And is it me or are default ringtones that come with new phones just getting crappier and crappier?

The return of...the Homo Sapiettes!

Yes indeed, after a long break, they're back for Season 2, even more gorgeous and tarty than the first season. There'll be a new Sapiette each month, starting this very month - ooooh, bet you can't wait! It's been hard work all that extensive research, all for the benefit of my readers, naturally...

And surely this page is the hottest page in the Israeli blogosphere...yes indeed, all 12 of Season 1's sapiettes on one glorious page.

Give me some bread

I want to know why they put those stickers on Shabbat bread. Yes, please enlighten me. I don't recall ever taking much notice of them, except for pulling them off before ripping apart the bread. But this morning I found out that they don't taste very nice, and if you're not careful, you'll find little pieces swimming around in your mouth for at least half an hour. And then finding a great wodge locked in one of your molars...why, why, why do they put those bleedin' stickers on?
