Toiletries

Time to get down 'n dirty.

I've mentioned Corridor Land's luxurious facilities before, but don't you just love those fuckers who manage to leave the toilet in a real mess. I don't want to get too graphic, but there is a bogbrush standing in the corner, just begging to be used. For Fecks sake, use it. Especially after a heavy 'humus and ful' lunch.

Of course, upon exiting the pit of despair you bump into the sexiest girl in the office, who within seconds is probably screwing up her face in disgust and has quickly associated anglosaxy with the pile of after-lunch smeared within...

Should this failure to maintain some respect for your fellow Corridor Landers be referred to as a failure, or simply deferred success, as teach would prefer it back in the UK?

Takes me back to China...

Night off

Earlier tonight me and mrs. anglosaxy ventured out without little Liam, our first few hours without the new family member alongside either one of us. To be honest, I didn't miss the crying, the worrying about bottles and changing nappies, I was concentrating on the Tuborgs and the good fare at Pasha in Tel Aviv. The beers were hitting the right spot - hard to believe but I haven't had a beer for over a week. And when the beers are flowing, all is good.

Even the fact that in another half an hour I need to feed Liam and then catch some sleep before heading back to Corridor Land (for the first time as a Dad...gulp...) in the morning doesn't faze me. Could be the alcohol, could be the influence of my son ("my son"...wow).

Anyway, that'll be me moving towards the fridge to get a bottle for Liam...

G'night John boy.

Due to popular demand

OK, once again, this is my blog. So, acquiescing to demand (well, from my favourite jumpseat diarist and one and only on the facer), and being the proud Dad that I am right now, here are a couple more pics of the new kid on the block. His name? Liam (spelt with an 'alef' in Hebrew, not an 'ayn'). And yes, he has been sliced and diced - ouch.

* Hold your mouse over the pic for more details.

Those sideburns? They're mine...

Ooof Dad, I feel like one of those stoopid Americans with this back-to-front baseball cap...

Circumsicion? Are you talking to me? Hang on, I think I need another swig...
Right. No more baby pics for a long time. I promise.

Oh baby baby...

Sleep, highly underestimated...

Those fountains of cute, funny baby piss that you see spouting in all directions in movies [ when baby is held aloft ] don't just happen in the movies. Trust me.

And is it me or is it as hot as bastards out there?

Breaking news day...

London has won the right to host the 2012 Olympics. Feckin' brilliant!

The G8 shenanigans continue in bonny Scotland. Interesting.
* Is it me or do the British police always look like dopey gits when clashing with hooded, brick-wielding protesters?

But all this pales into insignificance when you get yourself one of these...

Excuse me while I drink myself into celebratory bliss...

Homo Sapiette - July '05

OK, I promised a babe of the month every month, so it's time to introduce Becky Griffin.

Becky Griffin
If you ask me, she's stunningly cute. Probably not an obvious choice to kick off this feature (well, mrs. anglosaxy was an inside job so she doesn't officially count does she...) and not one of those voluptuous sexy girls (and there are plenty of those in Israel), but classy, almost elf-like. Her star has risen pretty dramatically in the last 3 or 4 years, what with her spot on MTV Europe and fronting Castro's recent campaigns. I think, and hope, you'll be seeing alot more of her in the future. She also speaks perfect English (she lived in the States for 10 years) and knows her music. What more can a guy ask for?

You can see more of Becky in full flow here, here or here. We love you over here at anglosaxy, Becky, well, make that me and the dog...

Live 8

Back from the local pool, where I managed to singe my ass in the midday sun, it's nice to switch on the TV and see one of my all-time fave songs being performed at Live 8. A whole load of good songs to come this evening, though some might question the effectiveness of the Make Poverty History issue. Whatever your way of thinking, you have to say Sir Bob knows how to get a job done. Personally, I don't think it'll ever come close to the original event, which still sends shivers down my spine whenever I see a clip...who remembers that moment when Bono mixes it with the crowd? *shivers*...

China revisited

Right. This is my blog and I can stuff my face blog with pics if I so choose. OK? Good, so here's a few more pics from my China trip last October, just to take full advantage of Blogger's recent generosity. Next post - babe of the month.

* Place your mouse over a pic for more details. Click the pic to enlarge.

Sunset bikers on the road to Kunming
Hong Kong road sign accidentally on purpose distorted
Schoolkids get brainwashed by foreigners
Anglosaxy's foot contemplates jumping for it at the Tiger Leap Gorge
M goes all butch and does a Jesus pose over the Tiger Leap Gorge
ChengDu city center, complete with abundant supply of gorgeous Chinese women
Er, spot the bicycle...
Shanghai: old meets new
Mmmm, these are very sexy. Which one do I buy for mrs. anglosaxy?
Direct from sunflower to mouth. Why bother with the packaging...

Fuckers

I don't know about you, but ain't this attempted murder? Throw the key away for these fuckers.

Leaping Tigers

Remember my post (see the Friday 12th entry) about the legendary Tiger Leaping Gorge in China? Well, an Israeli guy obviously wasn't paying attention and fell to his death (Hebrew link, it hasn't made the English sites) this week. A beautiful trek but a bit dodgy in places, especially if it's been raining.

Post-bonding

The department day out (ok, afternoon) went as boringly as expected. Lunch by the Med (Shalvata), with the sea breeze very welcome on a fecking hot day. Next stop was Cinema City, where we saw Mr and Mrs Smith. What can I say, a crap movie though well worth watching for the delicious Angelina Jolie. Ohh those lips. Anyway, lots of photograhic evidence of me smiling in the company of Corridor Land's finest, though I do fancy taking one of our group pics and doctoring it (some might say, improving it). Might just have to do it...I can feel a creative urge coming on.

The real fun started when myself and O headed back to Tel Aviv. First stop, a nice 'unknown' parking spot right next to the beach (yep, for free, and nope, I'm not going to tell you where), followed by a beer on the Tofim beach (I'll be honest, I'm a big beach bum and know Tel Aviv's beaches very well, but this was the first time I've ever sat on this beach). Then we headed over to Scores to play some pool with some other current and ex-Corridor Landers (but only the creme de la creme). Was actually great, feels like the first time I've been out with friends in a while and the beer was really flowing...my pool arm was also flowing and I was the unofficial champion for the night. Victory was celebrated with midnight noshings at Mifgash haSteak. Mrs. anglosaxy wasn't celebrating my arrival home at 1am, since she had the drive home to smallsville to accomplish, but all in all, a great night.

OK, you twisted my arm, here's my department with the Med sea breeze ruffling their hair. Which one is anglosaxy?

Pics galore

Throw away your flickrs and your imagebuckets, blogger has come up with the goods. Bang on time, I was almost thinking of paying (gasp!) for some space out there on the Web.

Quiet before the storm

Yesterday was spent in the company of the ever-blooming mrs. anglosaxy. She was feeling OK, if a little tired, but she decided to take a day off just because she could (I like to think I've inspired her new cut-and-run attitude...).

We saw it as an opportunity to be 'alone' together, out galavanting about town before junior arrives. Time is running short and days together are few and far between, what with her workaholic tendencies and my own heavy workload. So, a few precious hours together, before a screaming, shitting, bundle of joy hits the anglosaxy castle. Even made it to 'Kenyon haZahav' (Hebrew link) in Rishon Letzion, one of the biggest, if not the biggest, shopping malls in Israel. Yeh, yeh, I know. Listen, you gotta keep your chubby woman happy and if this is the way, then so be it.

Life is going to change, I guess. I keep hearing stories from other newbie parents and it looks like it's going to be a tough first month or two. Let's not even start on the following 18 years plus. It's actually a little frightening, in regard to the independence and relative freedom that I appear about to lose. Almost feels like this little geezer is going to take over my life...what about my business plans, my dreams? Is that it, destiny = slave? I'm looking forward to the new guy's arrival, don't get me wrong, but couldn't he come installed by default as a 2 or 3 year old? Why bother with the screaming, nappies etc.?

Anyway, bring it on little guy, bring it on. Your Arsenal shirt is on its way (probably need a few of these though...).

Off for some bonding later (see my last post)...

Bond. Let's bond.

Corridor Land has decided to splash out on a 'department day', which means that each department treats itself to a day out somewhere in a fit of brotherly bonding. Actually, it's only the afternoon, as we have to work until 12. Small details...

Anyway, my department, all 7 of us, did originally vote on a karting session. But, of course, we were quickly informed that karting was way over budget, despite my boss's close ties (marital) with the big bossman. So, in the end, it was decided that my department's bonding session would be spent...yep, here it comes...at the cinema. Not quite sure where the bonding will fit in, but I'm voting for the longest movie possible just for the hell of it...

No strings attached

Got myself one of these (in dashing silver):

OK. Now all I gotta do is set up a wireless network at home.
Right, dead easy...

Gorillaz

Bought my first CD (genuine over-the-counter, I swear) in God knows how long over the weekend. It's been jammed in the car CD player since and is refusing to budge, despite some hefty eject attempts by mrs. anglosaxy. Her idea of music these days is the Baby Van Gogh CD, for anglosaxy junior. Recommended (the Gorillaz, not the Baby Van Gogh), as in my opinion there are 2 or 3 tracks of pure genius here. And love their characters on the CD cover.

[ Must be feckin' amazing to write a song that 25 years on is still hummed along to. I heard the Human League's "Don't you want me" on the radio this morning and it took me right back to my school days. I distinctly remember my mate Steve telling us what he'd like to do to the blond backup singer. We must have been all of 13. ]

"Going Underground..."

I feckin' love that Jam song.

Which moves me nicely onto this...
Am I the last to twig this Ha'aretz sub-site? I've never seen this link before, it looks like an "alternative" (for the yoof?) version of Ha'aretz with some fairly interesting bits and pieces (for example, you can learn to talk like wot me and mrs. anglosaxy does here). There ain't too much information about what's going on in Israel in English, other than that which has a heavy Zionist tinge to it and is aimed at the 40+ religious crowd, so this is a welcome change*. Let's face it, most of the Israeli sites/blogs hardly inspire the yoof (I'm talking non-Jewish yoof) to don their backpacks and get themselves over here...

That reminds me of the tourist geezer I met last week when I was 'up North'. He was trying to meet up with some friends on a Kibbutz but nobody could help him find the Kibbutz (can't remember which one), but it brought me right back to my early days here in the Holy Land (more here, of course). I was pretty clueless when I got off the boat at Haifa. Now, what with the Internet, it must be dead easy to find out all the relevant info. But I can't find that many sites giving a real taste of what life's really like here...might be a cause ex-tourist anglosaxy is willing to take up, one very distant day, when I'm old and grey and still very 'with it'.

In the meantime, I'll just keep 'em gagging for my babe of the month feature, coming soon...

* Pretty dodgy logo though guys. The dog could have done better using Word.

Coochee coo

Christ. Going out recently has become a bit of a bind. Especially with friends who have kids.

All this baby talk: "Which hospital have you chosen? Have you bought a _____ (fill in with any one of a million baby-related items) yet? You know, when ____ (fill in with the name of a typical Israeli kid) was born, I had to _____ (fill in with a really nasty account of a lengthy labour that went awry)...

Is that it? Should I shut up shop right now? I mean, where did the conversations about football, work, sex etc disappear to? Maybe I should burn my surfboard? Perhaps use those empty beer bottles as pen holders? I know, let's cancel our subscription to the Sports channel and go crazy with the 'Baby' channel...
Fuck...

Refresh your browser

Aye, the move back into anglosaxy was a little easier than the move to smallsville, though the fiddling around with HTML was a bit of trial-and-error. A new look, you might well have noticed...

Yep, no longer living in Tel Aviv, although I'm in Tel Aviv every day either slaving away in Corridor Land or chauffeuring the chubby missus to work. I miss the City That Never Sleeps but I don't miss the old house, which was about the size of a shoebox compared to the new place. The new neighbourhood is taking a bit of getting used to, thanks to a few noisy fuckers...but I'll make sure anglosaxy junior (yep, coming real soon...) gives them a run for their money. Yep, bawl yer fucking lungs out mate!

Why bother coming back to anglosaxy? Well, I've missed posting a few pics and getting down some of the stuff that goes on in my life. Talking about football has its moments but hey, gets a bit one dimensional...I'll leave it to the pros, like Arseblog or East Lower. And while we're on the subject, Ashley (nice name, that) Cole, you're a real fecker, pack yer bags...(didn't you just know that the Israeli super agent Pini Zahavi is involved in this story)

Postings will be a little limited, probably once or twice a week, and nothing like my previous rate. I'm working my ass off at the moment finishing off my classroom at home, getting new students, touching up the website, designing a brochure...the school thing is going to happen, and BeJesus, it will be a roaring success! I hope. At the moment I really feel like I'm in the middle of this whirlwind and I ain't sure it's ever going to stop...

In my abscence, I don't see alot has changed...same ol' blogs out there, doing the same ol' stuff. As part of my comeback, there's going to be a few changes, more anonymity (no more name-dropping), less postings, but hopefully better stuff, including the launch of a Homo Sapiette of the Month (Israeli babes only...well, you know me...). There's just so many to choose from, but there's only one winner this month - mrs. anglosaxy...

So a refresh for anglosaxy. Life round my neck of the woods is changing and changing fast. Please, only jump on board if you can handle the speed.

Maybe not quite the end...

"...and there she was, just a walkin' down the street, singing..."
Eh? The feckin' mic is on?

*cough*

OK, so maybe I was a little hasty. Watch out for some changes! Coming soon, to an anglosaxy near you!
