October's Homo Sapiette - Karin Magrizo

So, a little late, but here is October's eye candy, Karin Magrizo. At the ripe old age of 31, she is in her prime. Some mornings I catch her on Channel 2 hosting her morning show just before I head off to work and she kinda sets me up for the day rather nicely. Very cute smile.

She is actually Dudu Topaz's niece (Dudu was the king of entertainment round these parts but has gone all quiet recently). Born in Los Angeles, her English should be good, but I need verification. Karin, cucumber sandwich? She has starred in a few ad campaigns, but to be honest, I don't remember any of them. She also starred in 3 episodes of "Kach Oti Sharon" as the "Temptress" but I bet you don't remember her...if she had dressed as in the pics below, I would have remembered...

September's Homo Sapiette - Girl of the Moment

There's only one possible Homo Sapiette on this fine morning...

Yes indeed...

You knew she was coming...

Tzipi Livni, quite possibly Israel's next Prime Minister.

Now, you probably know me as not one to mix in the ol' game of politics. And especially lately, I've been completely switching off. Maybe I'm just too busy, but I just can't listen to any more stories about Olmert, about his political party and about the squabbling little bitches in the opposition parties...

But, when I get to see the cute little Tzipi Livni, something in me softens. She's not quite the same as Israel's first woman Prime Minister, Golda, the saucy little minx, but that's probably a good thing. I quite like Tzipi, even though I'm not entirely convinced I know what she stands for. But like Theo has got me almost excited about watching Ingerlund play again, then maybe Tzipi has done the same for me and the large majority of the Israeli public who don't give a shit about politics. A big maybe, maybe.

How has she done it?

Maybe it's the way she throws her hair to one side...

Maybe it's her steely gaze at the camera...

Maybe it's the way she looks at ease when mixing with true political legends...

Or maybe it's just the way she manages to tempt us in with one of those looks...

However she does it, Tzipi is the woman of the moment. I say Go Girl, I actually think she might go and do some good...

August's Homo Sapiette - Tel Aviv Beach Eye Candy

put your hands up, put your hands up cheeky quick! paparazzi-stylee shot! come play with me!

OK, so this month not one specific celeb for you to drool over. Instead, a collection (not a private one, only one of these pix came from my camera and I didn't take it - most of these pix are out there on the web) of some of the eye candy that you might just get accosted with on the sandy beaches of Tel Aviv. It's August, it's baking, the Med is sparkling a few metres away, and the bikinis are getting even briefer. Oooh mama. Did you ever wonder how I've managed to stay here so long? And can you guess where I'm off to in the next few minutes...?

July's Homo Sapiette - Keren

Just a wee bit bigger than mrs anglosaxy, Keren Michaeli is a bit of a shortie in modelling terms, at 160cm. But she is still a worthy inclusion in this Homo Sapiettes collection, in fact, she very nearly made the first series.

I'm not sure when I first clapped eyes on Keren, probably sometime at the end of the 90s, but I remember thinking she was a bit of a looker. Quite possibly the most natural, beautiful face in Israel. Those eyes...

The above shot was taken when she apparently still in the army (Israeli women usually serve a couple of years straight after high school, from 18-20) and apparently pissed off her commanders enough to get her thrown out of the army. Beautiful eyes and a bit naughty, just the way we like 'em.
Nowadays she seems to have given up on fame and fortune and is married to a pilot and apparently studying at university. The days of seeing her lead campaigns for local tea (Wissotzky) ads and the like are long gone it seems...which is a shame because in her day she was stunning. So Keren, if you feel like coming back and donning a bikini or 2, we won't be complaining...

June's Homo Sapiette - Dana

This month it's the turn of Dana Adini to reap the rewards of a spot in the anglosaxy limelight. I like Dana a lot, I think she is very Israeli, not the ultimate eye candy but something very "next door girl" about her, the hair, the lips, that cute little nose (well, not that little...).

She first came to fame in 2005 with her then boyfriend Daniel Solomon, and as a duet they had a great big hit that actually ain't too bad on the ears. The following year she was part of the all-girl band HaBanot Nechama, who had this great big smasheroonee of a hit, partly sung in English. HaBanot Nechama also have the distinction of having quite possibly the ugliest band member alive, I'll leave it to you to decide - and as it's Friday the 13th, be careful if you click - who. Their album still gets a tonne of airplay today, especially by the fucker in the cell next to me at Open Spacey. Turn it down you fucker, I'm trying to write some blog content here...

Anyway, Dana started getting noticed more as an actress, and even co-starred in the 3rd series of Shir Shelanu (Our Song), before taking the role that first got me interested, in HaMesudarim (my translation: Set up for Life). She also released her solo album, made up entirely of songs in English, called Big Girls. Right now, she's starring in a series on Channel 2, Al Katzot HaEtzbaot (roughly translated as On Tiptoes). She's going to be a mega-star, this young lady...

And Dana, if you make it down to the beach in your bikini, please let me know...purely for my readers, of course...

May's Homo Sapiette - Shiraz

OK, for this month's Sapiette, I haven't really stretched myself. It's time for Shiraz Tal, one of those women who is universally classed by almost everybody as a "real Israeli beauty". Try and get a local to say something bad about her, it ain't gonna happen. She really is the local girl (from Netanya) done good. And by done good, I mean internationally renowned, strutting her stuff for some of the fashion giants such as Gucci and Victoria's Secret.

I must admit, she never really caught my eye when she was at the top of her game at the end of the 90's, but just lately seems to have done enough to squeeze herself into my list of Sapiettes. Bless 'er. And if all she has to show for the last couple of years is "Dancing with the Stars" and her own little spa in Tel Aviv, then I guess a spot on my blog is just the shot in the arm she needs...

April's Homo Sapiette - Yael

As the Champions League reaches its climax once again, it's time to highlight one of the more pleasurable aspects of watching the Israeli coverage of the games, Yael Ben Dov. Didn't see her this week, but I have a feeling she's lurking around on those pay for view channels...

Her first claim to fame was with the Ambassador reality show, where nobody really loved her and she came across as a bit of a bitch, if I remember rightly (was it really only 3 years ago?). Since then she's done various TV jobs, (including this one, her first job after the Ambassador) while never really hitting the big time. But she's regularly onscreen so must be doing something right. Personally, I think that while not the most stunning of the Homo Sapiettes, she's got something very sexily Israeli about her, and is almost certainly the most intelligent. And she loves footie. Aye. Never mind that her favourite drink is Goldstar, I can live with that...I think...

March's Homo Sapiette - Galit

OK, so Homo Sapiettes Season 2 continues with an experienced old hand, a face that you'll have seen a lot of on TV over the last couple of years. If you live in Israel. Yes indeed, Galit Gutman (Hebrew wiki link).

She has a stunning bod, no question about it, especially considering she's pushing 40 and has 2 kids. And can look scrumptious, especially when made up and pouting for the cameras. It's just, as mrs anglosaxy puts it, why does she have to open her mouth...?

She's modelled for most of the big fashion brands in this country, as well as appearing in a number of TV shows/soaps. She's probably most famous for her role as host of the Models reality/competition show (which for some very strange reason occupies the prime time viewing on a Friday night) and also appeared in the last series of Our Song (HaShir Shelanu).

Apparently her marriage to world renowned photographer Ziv Koren (some good shots there me old china!) is over, I just can't believe that 357 people were that bothered by this story (Hebrew link) that they had to comment...so guys, scrub up if you fancy a looker with a whiney voice, you know what you have to do...

February's Homo Sapiette - Vika

Well, I had somebody else lined up to open this season's bevy of beauties, but after she was dumped last week from The Survivor (Israel's hottest TV show at the moment), I thought I'd better start with Vika Finkelstein, moments before she disappears into anonymity, or hits the big time, not quite sure which...

I have to admit, The Survivor has sucked me in for a few episodes, and Vika's prancing around in a skimpy bikini certainly didn't have me reaching for the remote too often. A Tel Aviv lass, Vika was practically unknown before the show, apart from some minor modelling jobs. She's bound to have her 15 minutes of fame over the next weeks, but does she have something extra to take her beyond that? Time will tell...though sticking her tongue out at selected events and building beach huts could prove money-spinning...
