Yes indeed, after a long break, they're back for Season 2, even more gorgeous and tarty than the first season. There'll be a new Sapiette each month, starting this very month - ooooh, bet you can't wait! It's been hard work all that extensive research, all for the benefit of my readers, naturally...

And surely this page is the hottest page in the Israeli blogosphere...yes indeed, all 12 of Season 1's sapiettes on one glorious page.

Homo Sapiette - June '06

...and the sapiette that wraps up my collection is the gorgeous Romi Abulafia.

Ahh, Romi, remember the day a couple of summers back when you sat one meter in front of me on Jerusalem Beach in Tel Aviv? Did you really have to bend over so many times in that skimpy bikini? Disgusting behaviour. Luscious bum though, quite possibly the best I've ever seen.

Unfortunately, there is hardly a pic of Romi out there on the big wide Web. Believe me I looked (though did manage to dig out a clip - spot her Virgin Mary role in this little clip). From what I remember reading, she kind of "dropped out" of the celeb lifestyle a year or so ago after a long stint on the cult Shabbatot VerHagim series, countless ads etc (though wasn't that her I spotted in a recent TV show on Channel 10? The show with another Homo Sapiette, Miri?). All trace of her previous modelling days at Castro et al seems to have vanished with her.

Now 23, she seems to have been around for ever. To me, she looks like the sort of woman who'll only get more beautiful as she ages.

OK, you know what, one last Homo Sapiette to come. A shocker.

Homo Sapiette - May '06

As the bikini season kicks in, there's only one possible Sapiette this month - the rather gorgeous Bar Rafaeli. (Who says I don't care about my readers? I've seen the stats, the searches for Bar that end up visiting anglosaxy...I dare you, do a search for Bar Raphaeli and see who comes out first in the search results!)

Rather gorgeous, or perhaps, even too gorgeous...? I don't think anyone can doubt she's a stunner. Perhaps not the brightest cookie in the tin either, but, who cares? She's been an actress, a model in various bikini campaigns, and is apparently lined up to do Victoria's Secret. She's also allegedly hooked up with Leonardo Di Caprio recently. And despite being around for years, is still only 21.

And, with just one more Homo Sapiette to go before we bring this eye candy section to an end (I'll have a full calendar of 12 luscious ladies), who will make it for the final month? Decisions, decisions...

Homo Sapiette - April '06

Time for a bit of Michal Zoharetz.

Channel 1's only slice of eye candy. Channel 1 is Israel's national TV channel that nobody watches. The only programme I've ever watched on this channel is the show Michal fronts early on a Friday evening. Oh, and The Simpsons. Somehow she radiates a cuteness and charm that could only suit Channel 1, if you know what I mean.

She is also the oldest of the Homo Sapiettes, even older than moi. But we won't let that get in the way of her being April Sapiette, will we? We were also surprised to hear her recently plugging a plastic surgeon on the radio, but after seeing the pic on the left below, we decided to forgive.

She originally started out as an actress in a couple of fairly successful Israeli movies, then moved into the theatre, loveys, before venturing in to modeling and Friday night TV hosting. She was also a candidate for a new late-night show about fishing, but her captain co-star decided that her smile was cuter than his (only just, as you can see from the pic below) and pulled the plug. No, neither do I have a clue what this picture is all about, made me smile though.

Homo Sapiette - March '06

Ninette Taib has a pair of lungs on her. Er, did I just say that?

But hasn't she transformed into a classy looking lady? And even though she's not the thinnest Homo Sapiette on the block, she's certainly as cute as any of the other Sapiettes. Who remembers her appearances on Kochav Nolad (the Israeli equivalent of Pop Idol) a couple of years back? I have to say, she oozed potential back then, even in her army togs (yep, the girls do National Service over here too, ain't nothing like a sweet army girl toting an Uzi or M-16, trust me on that one).



Personally I'm not a fan of the music she belts out, though she does have a good voice. What impresses me most is her "realness" - she appears to have kept her head on her shoulders despite her stardom, and despite the celeb boyfriends (first Ran, now Yehuda, allegedly (the guy in the duo pic below), she appears to have cornered the most desirable dudes in Israel. Or so my 11 year old English students tell me.).



After conquering Pop Idol and the hearts of the nation, she has since moved into acting. She's one of the main stars of HaShir Shelanu (Our Song), a soap opera only available on the Yes satellite network, loosely based around a talent school and its graduates. I hate to admit it, but I was almost hooked and then the current series ended, not sure if my interest wasn't down to Ninette's expansive lungs...



Now a top celeb in this country, that means you won't find too many revealing bikini pictures of her (but countless Diva pics). She's not that sort of girl anyway. So anyway Ninette, please love, put your microphone down for just a second: I officially crown thee the most-clothed Homo Sapiette.

Homo Sapiette - February '06

Wee Moran Eisenstein.

Or at least she was 'wee' before the implants...

Surgically enhanced females don't really do it for me, I'm sorry to say, but we'll give exceptions for Moran, because there is something undeniably vulnerable about her. Perhaps it's the way she was apparently dumped by her singer boyfriend HaSaruf (The Burnt One, don't ask...). Or perhaps the way she shed a tear on primetime TV (the Yair Lapid show), when asked about her deceased father. But then again, it might all have been a big show to get herself listed as an anglosaxy Homo Sapiette. You can never tell with these celebrity types.

Her big break was her rather chesty pout for the Netvision ad (local Internet company) some years back, when she rather cheekily asked us: "And if I don't fancy it on Tuesday?..."

Since then she's been plodding the minor celebrity rout, with kiddie shows here and ad campaigns there and also a bit of TV hosting for Yes, the local satellite network. The inevitable rout of bimbo actress>pop star was also attempted, with a song she wrote when she was 14. I'm quite content to say that I've yet to hear it. She has even recently taken over from a favourite Homo Sapiette of ours in the play "I'm here because of my wife".

So I guess she's here to stay, for now, and is attempting to turn "serious", though her initial attempts at breaking through as a bimbo-type will probably haunt her for ever. We say, never mind Moran, you can now say you've really made it, what with your February Homo Sapiette double-spread...

Homo Sapiette - January '06

Move over Sandy. The new Milky girl is in town. Sucking her finger rather saucily as she bounces across my television in a skimpy pink baby doll...


Hila Nachshon. OK, so she's another blond married to a footballer, an Israeli footballer at that (Assi Dom), but she's starting to get noticed, at least in my household. Just down my street there are 2 advertising billboards, one with her advertising Milky, the other of her advertising some clothing line I can't remember the name of. She's almost a star, even in smallsville.

OK, so she's a wannabee celebrity, possibly a bit on the teasey side, but she's got star quality. Not quite sure why, but she is sexy. Let's face it, all us guys need is a woman sucking her finger suggestively and we're smitten.

She's been doing a lot of TV work recently, what with co-hosting the Israeli equivalent to "Come Dancing" and co-hosting an entertainment show on Yes, Israel's satellite TV network. Now it looks like she's becoming big-time with her new entertainment show, co-hosted with the rather bitchy Aviad Kissus (he of 102FM). They're attempting to give long-standing Guy Penis (yes, pun intended and yes, that is his name) on the other TV network a run for his money. Anyway, I give their partnership 6 months. Mark my words. I can already hear the claws being sharpened...

Homo Sapiette - December '05

She's your Christmas cracker!

Miri Bohadana. Possibly the bimboest of the homo sapiettes, but one you'd probably need for your Christmas stocking. Or even out of your Christmas stocking, whichever takes your fancy. I have to say, I've always taken a shine to her ever since a friend told me he beeped her with his horn because she was driving like an OAP and she gave him the finger in return. Feisty little number.

Actress, model, she started out young, wining Miss Beer Sheva at the age of 15. At 17 she came a close second in the Miss Israel contest and even got to participate in Miss World. Since then, she's been on telly in various things that have never really taken off. Today she stars in the Israeli soap, "Love around the corner". Bless her. Never one to shy away from the "bikini shot", we love her here at anglosaxy.

Think you'd better put something on love, it's going to be a cold weekend!

Homo Sapiette - November '05

About time our Yaeli was selected, me thinks.

I've tried steering clear of the "big guns", but Yael Bar Zohar has to be one of Israel's biggest celebs - everything she does still grabs headlines and warrants her appearance on chat shows. Just last week, it was her and her fresh new hubbie, Guy Zoharetz, on Yair Lapid's (Hebrew)season opener. Just to deny any rumors she was pregnant. Wow. Amazing. Perhaps a slight reflection of Israel's steering towards the celeb culture and all things shiny and pretentious? Mmmm...

Anyway, we still love Yael because she's always ready to pop on her bikini...

Despite the gloss, she is possibly one of the cutest Israelis out there, that smile of hers must win a few admirers every week...she is also one of those stars that seems to have been around forever. Who remembers her extraordinarily bad acting in Ramat Aviv Gimmel, one of Israel's first soap operas? Her role? A rather busty, lolita-like 16 year old. "Sexploitation!" I hear you cry. What, in Israel? Naahh...

Ever since, she has consistently popped up here and there, never really doing anything of any real note, like a good movie or even a decent TV show of her own, but she's always been there for us, ready to flash her smile and other bits. Recently she's been fronting the Fox (an Israeli clothing company, with a surprisingly good English web site) campaigns, rather saucily I have to say, but we ain't grumbling...


Might be pushing it, but I'd hazard a guess she's here to stay...

Homo Sapiette - October '05

Mmm, time for a classic Israeli beauty, at least in my opinion.

I first saw Natali Atia in an ad for Natuzzi furniture (I think) some time in the early 90's, draped starkers over an armchair. From what I remember, the pic caused quite a stir and surely did her career no harm at all. It took me forever to find the pic online but here it is...

To me, she is the classic Mediterranean beauty, a taste of the exotic that us Europeans fall head over heels for...

As her moments of modelling glory came probably just before the Internet really made it big, there aren't too many pictures of her out there. She's since turned her hand to TV presenting and becoming a mum and is one of those 'celebs' that seems to pop up now and again but not really do anything...

If I was her agent, I'd strongly recommend a suggestive pose with two other models...ah, yes, just like that...

Homo Sapiette - September '05

Bellisimo.

Italy's favourite Israeli. The luscious Moran Attias.

After unsuccessfully trying to make it in Israel, Moran headed to Italy where she became a model. True stardom beckoned (in a celeb kind of way) on a national TV show, where she became an exotic version of Carol Vorderman, or Vanna White, if you like...and then made her way back to Israel where she's been hosting her own quiz show up until recently.

To tell you the truth, I never was much a fan of hers, she always seemed overrated to me. And then, one sunny day, I looked in my Inbox and there it was. A clip from Kinky (one of the 20 he sends every day, the spamming little git), of Moran modelling jewellery in various states of undress...Wow. As Sir Kenny once put it, "all in the best possible taste!".

Homo Sapiette - August '05

Time for some eye candy. Oh my.

Sandi Bar - not the name of a beachside pub, but one of the most gorgeous women in Israel (yep, I think she's a little confused how to spell her name on her own website). She's graced these pages before, and will undoubtedly do so again and again, especially if she adorns the side of buildings in that saucy minx manner...


Married to Aki Avni, Sandi isn't perhaps in the public eye as she once was, what with their relocation to the States. But she is still instantly recognizable, thanks to her regular day job modelling chocolate dessert puddings and sunglasses. Sandi love, we don't like the dark Marilyn look you've recently been sporting, I guess the money was too good to refuse, eh?

Anyway, we still love her at anglosaxy, very much. We don't care how you spell your name Sendi Sandy Sandi, we're just waiting to see you pop up in another trashy Israeli soap (who remembers her first real acting role?), preferably beside the pool in as little clothing as possible.

Oh yeh, me and Sandi have something in common. What is it (apart from a fondness for skimpy white bikinis...)?

Homo Sapiette - July '05

OK, I promised a babe of the month every month, so it's time to introduce Becky Griffin.


If you ask me, she's stunningly cute. Probably not an obvious choice to kick off this feature (well, mrs. anglosaxy was an inside job so she doesn't officially count does she...) and not one of those voluptuous sexy girls (and there are plenty of those in Israel), but classy, almost elf-like. Her star has risen pretty dramatically in the last 3 or 4 years, what with her spot on MTV Europe and fronting Castro's recent campaigns. I think, and hope, you'll be seeing alot more of her in the future. She also speaks perfect English (she lived in the States for 10 years) and knows her music. What more can a guy ask for?
